Project Umang is an integrated AA–education, employability and integrated development initiative for children and women from neighborhood areas in Dighi, Pune. Implemented by IDEA foundation and supported by TATA Communications Ltd.This project also focused upon key community needs identified – Hygiene, Water & Sanitation, Digital Literacy and Entrepreneurship Development. The project’s tartget was to reach out to 1500 children, 600 women belonging from AA communities, across 4 schools and 5 communities in Pune.
Major interventions were concentrated in PCMC Schools of Bopkhel, Dighi and PMC schools of Vishrantwadi and in Bopkhel, Ramnagar Dighi and Vishrantwadi communities.The project would also focus on creating awareness and mobilizing people for setting up Digital Literacy Center for which IDEA will co-ordinate with other vendors to set up a common lab that could be accessed by all from nearby areas to become digitally literate. The project would also emphasize on promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices through sessions, skit, using folk-art, construction or refurbishment of school and community toilets etc.
